SDT - Spacecraft Design Tool

This 6-degree-of-freedom (6DoF) system simulation tool, built from the ground up using the Microsoft .Net Framework, provides simulation and real-time data display capabilities.

The tool enables users to rapidly design the basics of a spacecraft, its sensors, its actuators, and its attitude determination and controls systems (ADCS). The system considers all facets of spacecraft dynamics using appropriate modes for sensor, actuators, and environments.

Some of the technologies included:

• 3D Visualization package utilizing Microsoft DirectX rendering.
• Built-in scripting utilizing .Net languages such as C#, Javascript.
• Ability to create simulation models with any compiler which can create .Net assemblies.
• A drag-and-drop interface is used to provide a familiar environment for creating high-level simulation models with no programming required.
• Interfaces available to query the simulation remotely using MSN Messenger
• .Net Remoting is used to provide trainer and student workstations, allowing a trainer to control and peek at the simulation on multiple student workstations.
• Integrated help system, including API Documentation
• HTML Viewer window, utilizing Internet Explorer, allowing the tool to open a dynamic URL based on simulation data
